10MLD SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT

Situated on the banks of the river ‘Chite’, at the southern most part of Bethlehem Vengthlang, construction for the Sewage Treatment Plant has been completed and is in operation. The plant has the capacity to treat 100,000,000 liters of public wastes from households per day, using a vast expanse of Sewerage Pipelines networks. These pipes are connected to individual toilets and kitchens to maximize the collection of sewage and in turn minimize uncontrolled and reckless expulsion of sewage into the soil. Due to the hilly terrain of the city, the plant is capable of treating only part of the city (16 localities) as the network relies on gravitational flow of sewage.

CESSPOOL CLEANERS

Five (5) Cess-pool cleaners have been purchased and handed over to the Aizawl Municipal Corporation (AMC). AMC has made them available for public utilization on a subsidized renting rate.

 

COMMUNITY TOILETS

As many as ten (10) community toilets with the latest available amenities have been constructed in the following localities with the city. They are located in the following localities:-

  1. Bethlehem Vengthlang Bazar, 
  2. Bawngkawn Market, 
  3. Zarkawt (near Ahimsa Hotel), 
  4. Mission Veng Bazar, 
  5. Ch.Chhunga Bus Terminal (AMC complex, Thuampui), 
  6. College Veng ITI Junction, 
  7. Kulikawn, Ngaizel, 
  8. New Market (near Market office), 
  9. Zemabawk (Trade & Commerce                market), 
  10. Dawrpui (near Millinium Centre, Upper                 Bazar).

The using public pays a meager fee for use and this in-turn is utilized for maintenance of these community toilets.

 

BIODIGESTERS

SIPMIU is also undertaking venture to introduce the new Anaerobic Bacteria for construction of Bio-Digester tanks. These tanks are designed for communal usage will be shared by either 10, 20, 30 & 50 households. The resultant water discharges from these tanks are suitable for domestic usage which aids in the conservation of water and increased reusability.
